After a year of being out of the office and with no real world opportunities to meet up as a Connor Broadley team, we recently embarked on Conqueror’s ‘Length of the UK Virtual Challenge’. Competing as three teams, the challenge takes you on a 1,084 mile (1,743km) road trip from Lands End to John O’Groats. Participants were sent daily virtual postcards of the locations they passed en route and Conqueror rewarded our efforts by planting trees for every 20% of the route we completed.

Here’s what some of our colleagues had to say about the challenge:

‘It was a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, albeit virtually’. Chris Lusty said ‘I enjoyed the challenge as it got my team’s competitive spirit flowing, as we stormed to victory, and it was good to speak to those I wouldn’t chat to day to day.’

‘Looking after people is at the heart of everything we do at Connor Broadley’, and as Vicky Mottershaw from the benefits consulting team said, ‘It was fantastic to see such teamwork and motivation and I can honestly say it really helped me feel focused, energised and still an important part of the CB family.’

Aleah Townsend, a key organiser for the challenge, says: ‘As a part of the wellbeing team, we know how much of a toll the pandemic has taken on many, both mentally and physically. This virtual challenge created team spirit, encouragement and of course, got us all active!’

‘It was great to see everyone pull together as a team to complete the challenge and create some competitive team spirit, although some were more competitive than others!’ explains Matt Law.
